Before commencing your study at CUHK, please read the following important information.

Important notes
Arrangement for Degree Conferment Date
Arrangement for Degree Conferment Date

With effect from the academic year 2021-22, the University has separated degree conferment from the Congregation/Graduation ceremonies held in December/November. There are three specified dates in a calendar year for conferring Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees: 31 March, 31 July and 15 October.  These dates will be printed on the graduate certificates, except for degrees conferred on 15 October, where graduates can choose between 15 October and 15 November as the printed date.

This new arrangement allows students who have fulfilled all graduation requirements to have their degree conferred earlier, facilitating their further studies or employment.   Students may choose to postpone their degree conferment if desired.

From the academic year 2024/25

There will no longer be an option to defer the degree conferment date. Following the University’s arrangement, once a student has satisfied all graduation requirements, the nearest degree conferment date in that year will be assigned as the default conferment date.

For more information, visit Graduation Arrangements.

Applicants who have applied to more than one programme
Applicants who have applied to more than one programme

If applicants have applied to multiple programmes and only one programme recommends their admission, they will receive a single offer without any options. They can choose to decline the offer and wait for the result of later admission rounds for the other programme(s). However, please note that this decision is final, as the declined place will be offered to another applicant and all funds and deposit paid are non-refundable. Typically, most programmes make offers in the earlier rounds and will continue to issue offers if there are remaining spots available. Please contact the relevant Division if you have any enquiries.

Anti-deception alert
Anti-deception alert

To stay alert against telephone fraud, you are strongly recommended to check the website of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre and poster regularly for the latest deception methods and scam alerts. Please also remind your classmates and friends about these scams.

There are a wide variety of defrauding tricks. The fraudsters may pretend to be law enforcement offices or government staff who assist mainland law enforcement officers in an investigation, or even request sensitive information such as bank account numbers and PIN codes, or arrange meetings at specific locations.

Tips to protect yourself from telephone fraud:

  • The Office of the Communications Authority requires telephone operators to display a “+” sign as a prefix for all incoming calls from outside Hong Kong.  If you receive unknown calls with the prefix “+852” that appear to be local numbers, please be alert as it could be a telephone deception;
  • The Police and other government organisations do not use numbers with the “+852” prefix to make calls to the public;
  • Scammers may use SIM cards with One-Card-Two-Numbers services where the prefix “+852” will not be displayed. Stay alert to all incoming calls;
  • The Hong Kong Police Force will not transfer your call to law enforcement officers from other jurisdictions;
  • If callers claim to be law enforcement officers, government officers or representatives of e-payment companies and ask for your personal information or assets under various pretexts, contact the respective offices to verify their identity;
  • Avoid disclosing personal information to strangers, including your HKID numbers, bank account numbers, online banking accounts and PIN codes;
  • Do not download unknown applications, click on suspicious email links or attachments, or provide information to unknown applications or websites.

If you have any doubts or suspect a scam, please call the Police’s “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222” or report the case to the Ma On Shan Police Station at 3661 1700. In case of an emergency, please call 999.
